It all begins with the story of you and your horse.

Maybe you have been together for a decade, swam in lakes or galloped across wide-open fields. You and your horse might spend your weekends competing on the local circuit with plans and dreams to compete Nationally.

Maybe you are seasoned competitors who have toured the big circuits. Or perhaps this is your first ever horse, and you have spent your life dreaming of your very own horse.

Wherever you are in your story, I am here to capture it in a way that will preserve these memories for you to enjoy for a lifetime.

The Experience

I am here to provide direction and guidance from start to finish and ensure you feel comfortable, prepared, and ready to enjoy your portrait session. Gorgeous professional portraits of you and your horse aren't my only goal — I want you to have fun. Together in your ordering appointment, we will narrow down your favourites and create custom artwork that will preserve your horse for a lifetime.

I promise the artwork of you and your beloved horse will bring you pure joy every day.

Forever in Your Heart

Our relationships with horses are some of the most celebrated in our lifetime. One of life’s greatest tragedies is that their lives are so short. They say the stars that shine the brightest have the shortest lives, which could not be more accurate than with our horses. I am honoured to photograph you and your horse to ensure you have that special session and portraits preserved for the years to come. These sessions are reserved for terminally ill horses or are over 24 years of age. As someone who has experience with equine and canine best friends in their senior years and palliative care, I understand how difficult this season in life can be. Therefore these sessions are significantly reduced in cost. (Session offering is over $3200 in value).

  • 20-40 images as social media digitals

The Process

Planning

Every horse and human have their own personality, no two are alike and this my approach to your session! During this time, I want to get to know you and your horse and plan the photoshoot of your dreams!

Together, we will discover what your vision is for displaying your portraits in your home, office or barn. I will learn what portraits and moments are most important for you to have captured. Of course, I will guide you through what to wear, how to prepare yourself and your horse.

Preparation

You will be given access to all the information for your upcoming session with my Session Preparation guide. This is your time to prepare for your session by brushing up on any riding, groundwork and exploring locations on the property with your horse. This time allows you to book friends or family to help with your session, plan a shopping trip and schedule any hair and makeup appointments.

Your Session

This is where the magic happens. The day you have been dreaming of has finally arrived! You and your horse are looking your best, and are ready to shine. I will always make sure you and your horse are comfortable and at ease from start to finish. All sessions have enough time built into them to take a breath, stay hydrated and give your horse a mental break if needed. Today is the day to enjoy the moment, love up on your horse and smile!

Ordering Appointment

Today will be filled with so much excitement, so pour yourself a delicious cup of coffee, get comfy at home and get ready to see your gorgeous photographs for the first time! Together we will go through the photos over Zoom, and I will be there to guide you through the process of narrowing down which photographs are your favourites. From there you will decide which to display and enjoy as Artwork in your home, barn or office.

Art is what makes a house a home…and what better way to dress up those walls than with photographs that mean the world to you? Wall art is the signature piece from a Sarah Marie Webster Photography session, and it’s what most of my clients choose to begin their investment in. I offer a variety of styles and finishes to suit your home and style.

Handcrafted albums made locally in Ontario are one of my most luxurious pieces. Horse and rider sessions have 30-40 hand-retouched final photographs. Albums provide the most beautiful way to share, display and hold onto your entire story. You’ll be able to enjoy them for your lifetime while being able to pass these down through the generations.

FAQs and TERMS

WHAT DOES MY SESSION FEE INCLUDE?

Your session fee includes: pre-session planning, session preparation guide, travel within 60km of London, time on location for your portrait session, professional editing, portrait reveal and ordering appointment for creating custom artwork as well as a $200 Artwork Credit. Your session fee does not include digitals or artwork.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO BOOK?

I advise you to book 2-3 months out for all sessions to allow you time to complete the booking process, schedule hair or makeup appointments, hire a braider, shop for an outfit etc. Booking in advance allows you to have the desired date as well. Availability fluctuates. I do my best to accommodate immediate needs for senior or terminally ill horses. Please feel free to contact me for availability.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY HORSE?

One of the most important aspects of preparing your horse is practicing your groundwork and getting them accustomed to various locations at your farm. I encourage my riders to do whatever show preparation you would typically do on your horse for a big competition; bathing and/or grooming, clipped, hoof polish, etc. Tack is your preference, but I always encourage a clean bridle or leather halter with a plain black lead rope! All my clients are given a full session preparation guide and I am always here to help.

GIFT CERTIFICATE TERMS

All gift certificates have no cash value. No Returns. No Refunds. Excludes any travel costs. All Pricing is subject to change at the time of use. Must be booked and scheduled before the expiration date. Must have gift certificate in hand to be used.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

I’m based out of London, Ontario. There are no travel fees within 60km of London.

WHAT LOCATION IS BEST?

The majority of my portrait sessions are located where the horse is boarded as it is where they are most comfortable. If you prefer to trailer into a different location, I am happy to photograph you there as well. Don’t worry if your facility isn’t magazine cover worthy, I will be able to find spots that will work perfectly for us to get beautiful images.

WHAT DO I WEAR?

The most important thing to consider in choosing your outfits is to select clothes that reflect your own personal style and that you are comfortable in. It’s important to keep things like the weather, personal features, and your horse’s colour in mind when choosing your outfits. All my clients are given a full session preparation guide and I am always here to help.

WHAT IF IT IS RAINING?

If the weather isn’t desirable, or safe, we will reschedule. Your retainer will move to the new session date, easy-peasy!

ARE THE PHOTOS FROM MY SESSION EDITED?

All photographs are meticulously hand-edited for a beautifully finished portrait. I have over ten years of in-depth experience working in Adobe Photoshop and I am your trusted expert when it comes to artistically transforming photographs from your portrait session.

HOW DO I SEE MY IMAGES?

We will connect over Zoom video a few weeks after your session. Together we will review all the edited photographs from your session where you will be able to choose your favourites for displaying as Artwork in your home. Before this Zoom viewing session, I will have you send over photos of the location in your home where you would like to display your photos. This will ensure I can put together a few examples for you to see how they would look in your home.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR EQUINE ART SESSIONS?

The experience is as convenient and stress-free for both horse and owner as possible with natural lighting from the entrance to the barn and in some cases an indoor arena entrance. I don’t used flashes, lights or backdrops. Everything is hand-edited using Photoshop! I recommend a clean area, free of clutter with the lights off. Other barn doors closed, if possible. A minimum 10ft entrance is required, with more space being very helpful! If your barn has multiple entrances, please have them all ready as I will not know which one to use till I arrive.

If you think you have a questionable location, please send images of your barn aisle or indoor arena doorway and I will let you know if it is possible. Although I can make most situations work, I will not be able to produce the same quality of images without the proper setup.1-2 extra helpers at your barn makes for a smooth session.

HOW DO I PAY FOR MY SESSION?

In an effort to keep contact points minimized we are moving all payments online. Your retainer and balance for your session can be paid through e-transfer or credit card.
